'Alison has transformed the gardens surrounding Freedom House with her expert gardening. Plants that we didn't even know existed are now thriving in our front garden. We are delighted with the amazing and transforming work completed by Alison' J. Thomson
I accepted the challenge to create a garden for a holiday home which needed to be seriously low maintenance, drought tolerant and cope with the occasional winter freeze. After just a few months it is already looking beautiful. The garden design includes evergreen plants which flower for many months of the year so the garden is always looking good.
I was asked to revitalize the main courtyards at Oldfield Park Junior School in Bath as they had become patchy and unkempt. The new planting design needed to provide colour year-round and be low maintenance. All the old plants were dug out, the planters painted, and fresh new flowering shrubs and climbers are now growing happily. The courtyard garden now has flowers and scent for the children and staff to enjoy, even on dark winter days.
The renovation of the house had been completed, and now the owners were looking to create a similarly beautiful garden filled with roses and tradition cottage garden plants. I produced outline plans for both front and rear gardens which the owners were very pleased with. See the detailed garden design plans: Cottage Garden design
RECENT GARDEN DESIGN PROJECTS
A children's charity based in a large house on a busy road were hoping to make more of their large garden, but did not have the time or expertise.
I have increased the range of plants in the garden to give an evergreen structure to the borders, and introduced reliable flowers which extend the season of interest beyond the original roses. Sarcococca, Osmanthus, Abelia, Lavender and Hebe have brought colour and scent to the garden throughout the year. This will be a very low maintenance garden once the plants are established.
